Some great recommendations to travel safely to Morocco

Do not talk about religion if you do not know.
And do not complain if you are not allowed to enter a mosque because you are not a Muslim. It makes all the sense of the world if you really consider those places sacred. Criticism, in our opinion, is what is done on the other side of the world, charging money to see inside religiously supposed temples. The Moroccans are very believers, but moderate. And more and more young people tend to be less practicing. So relax the crack, and go.

Talk to anyone who talks to you. And with those who do not too.
The people are very open. Often, they just want to chat for a while, have tea with you or talk to you about any subject, about the Sahara for example.
Do not go with 'fear'. In the first place because there is no reason to have it and secondly because the Moroccans, with all the affection of the world, are more 'animals' than we are. For better and for worse. Or, better said, they are the same as animals but in Spain we are more trained. And in Europe I do not even tell you anymore. If they notice that you are not very confident, neither want can hide their reaction and soon take to eat you alive. So, since you have a bad image of them, at least for some reason. They understand much more of heart than of reason, they are very visceral and if they perceive that you address them with fear or distrust, do not expect them to be kind or friendly. That neither is foolish. On the contrary, if you follow the roll ... if you follow the roll you will understand why there are so many people attached to this country. It's as simple as people will behave towards you in the same way you behave towards them. You know What you do, they will do to you.

Do not be a rat and give tips, as everybody does.
Prices do not include VAT and it does not cost anything to give a few dirhams to the waiter, the taxi driver ... etc. In Morocco it is also very common to ask someone about how to get to certain places, especially in the medina, and many of them will not only tell you, but will take you directly to wherever you want, especially the kids or young mans. And, whenever the situation invites them to do so, those unwritten rules say they have earned a tip. They are a few cents more and it is quite ugly not to comply.

Be patient.
In cities like Marrakech that, by the way, I think it's hyper-mega-overvalued, the tourist's burden is excessive. They get very heavy with you to buy, buy and buy, and sometimes it's hard to always put on a good face. So, patience, I love. Smile and say several 'no, thanks' in English or several 'la, shukran' in Arabic, to look nicer even if it fits.

Do not forget that he is the Moroccan.
And you are the visitor. It is true that Morocco is evolving in many aspects, but that modernity coexists in a special way with tradition and typical customs. Therefore, to demand or expect things to be like you are used to is to be useless. There you work, you wait, you enjoy yourself and you live differently. And the sooner you assimilate it better.

Stop to eat where there are local people.
If you really want to eat well and cheap get yourself, no doubt, where there are Moroccan people. Surely it is the greatest restaurants in the whole city, but those places with flowers, tablecloths, cutlery and everything unpolluted are not that bad.

Wherever you go do what you see.
The best advice that can be given, without a doubt. Especially on the subject of women, especially if it is Ramadan. No one asks you to look like one more but, even though you're sorry, you're in a Muslim country and there's no need to go as you would go to a club in Ibiza. But if you do, do not expect to go unnoticed. It is likely that, by reckless and savvy, you have to hear some comment. Most are harmless but some can be intimidating. So, do not do it and you will not fear it.

Last Advice: Open your mind and you will be happy.
It should not be that complicated to do it; listen to opinions and ideas different from ours and let that diversity make us richer. Observe the way of life of other people to stay with the good and this understand that not only ours is valid.
